About 10 years ago our colleague Felix started his career with an apprenticeship as a chemical technician in Hamburg. Today he provides a little insight into his career path and his new professional role at the Mankiewicz site in Charleston:

Starting an apprenticeship

After graduating high school, I wanted to get out of school and into work. I had long been fascinated by machines and the natural sciences. After a short internship at Mankiewicz in Hamburg, I finally decided to start an apprenticeship as a chemical technician. What I found particularly exciting was the wide range of job options as a chemical technician - from chemical engineering to process engineering, there are numerous springs of application.

Taking on responsibility

After completing my apprenticeship, I took on more responsibility as a shift supervisor - a great chance to develop personally. At the same time, I started my further training to become a Professional of Chemical Production and Management, which led me to the quality inspection team. A year later, the opportunity arose to take over department management in one of the production areas. Slowly the idea of working abroad came up.

Working abroad

Four weeks ago, I started sharing my knowledge from 10 years at the Hamburg site with my Mankiewicz Coating Solutions colleagues at Charleston, SC, USA to exchange experiences from both production sites and optimize processes.
